Wonderful views and unbelievable pool

Left on Aug 16, 2023 for a stay in Aug 2023
An amazing place with stunning views and everything you need. There is plenty to do in the surrounding area, however with the fantastic pool and setting it is difficult to drag yourself away . The gite is well equipped and Mike and Caro are perfect hosts. Being able to share Thénac, Moët and Chandon for the week is an added bonus. After many years of staying in France this is one of the best gites we have found . We hope to return !

An absolutely wonderful week!!

A stunning location just outside the bastide town of Eymet. The gite is very comfortable and is surrounded by quiet countryside with nothing to disturb you except the wildlife! The infinity pool is out of this world and has views to die for over the valley, and it's really idyllic to sit under the pigeonierre with a bottle of wine and watch the sunset. We had a fantastic time and were really well placed for visiting lots of bastide towns. Mike and Caro are brilliant hosts and their gorgeous pets Thenac, Moet and Chandon were lovely to have around. Wish we were still there!!

Utterly glorious stay in a fairytale location. (and you get to share the dogs and cat!)

We have just returned from a week at this fantastic property as a family of four. The gite is very well equipped with everything you could possible need. It has three substantial bedrooms so our two teens had their own space which they appreciated. We were warmly welcomed by Caroline, Thénac, Bonnie and Rocco (two adorable dogs and and a massive, Maine coon cat). The gite is an easy walk to lovely Eymet where there are plenty of bars and restaurants, weekly markets and everything you expect from a French town. The swimming pool is as gorgeous as it looks in the photos...better even. We had drinks under the pigeonnier and watched the sunset, the sky turn pink and the bats come out to play over the pool . It is a perfect place. Book it. You won't regret it. We will definitely be back.

Perfect location, fantastic pool..Paradise!

Beautiful gite, fully equipped with everything you'd want for a self catering holiday, very clean and situated within 15 acres of land but

also within a small distance from Eymet town centre. Amazing pool with fantastic views. We'll visit again!

A beautiful French getaway

Left on Aug 27, 2018 for a stay in Aug 2018
This beautiful gate is a 5/10 minute drive out of Eymet, a mediaeval town situated about 20 minutes south of Bergerac. There is an abundance of night markets, food festivals and attractions both historic and activity based on offer in the region. The house itself is comfortable, well equipped and brimming with traditional French character. Outside is an absolutely fantastic pool set in stunning grounds with wonderful views of the surrounding countryside. Mike and Caro are very welcoming and friendly hosts as are their 4 lovely pets. We have already booked again for Summer 2019 and are counting the days!

Pool with a view and much more besides

Left on Aug 7, 2018 for a stay in Jul 2018
The gite is located close to the town of Eymet. A great little historical town with all the amenities you require for comfortable stay in the Dordogne. Close to Bergerac and my favourite little town of Issigeac. The accommodation has three double bedrooms, a nice lounge, a separate kitchen, two bathrooms and toilets. As a party of two this was more than enough for us. There is a private outdoor space for dining and lounging for exclusive use for the gite. Michael and Caroline are excellent hosts who are keen to ensure you have a pleasant stay. Shiraz, Coco, Bonnie and Rosso are also on hand to give you a warm welcome - just make sure your frisbee arm is up for a challenge as Shiraz is an expert!!

“Simply stunning French retreat”

Even the fantastic photographs don't prepare you fully for the truly wonderful setting of this charming cottage. Arriving along a tree-lined avenue, you are treated to the warmest of welcomes from Mike and Caro, followed by greetings from their delightful dogs and majestic feline. Of course the pool has the obvious 'wow' factor, but you really have to experience it from all angles to truly appreciate the vision that led to its creation. The cottage is deceptively spacious and unlike so many rentals, you'll find what you need in the cupboards and there's a generous welcome pack that allows you to hit the ground running. Eymet is a beautiful town with fabulous restaurants and lively markets. Every member of my family of five, from 10 year old, to 17 year old children to my wife, were loathed to leave. Would we return? - In a heartbeat.

“Very beautiful and peaceful”

Reviewed June 20, 2017 for a stay in June 2017

This is a beautiful gite very close to Eymet (probably a 25min walk). The accommodation is superb, has everything you need including washing machine, dish washer, fans etc etc. The pool is stunning, when we arrived the water was ice cold, but within a couple of days it was very welcome (33c). The views and surrounding countryside are lovely. Very peaceful, could only hear birds, cows and the odd tractor. Mike and Caroline are great, very helpful and of course the dogs and cat are just lovely. Will definitely visit again.

This property was fabulous! We stayed with our two children and they thoroughly enjoyed exploring the grounds, playing with the dogs and cat, and loved the pool (which is even better than the pictures!).
Our hosts, Mike and Caroline, were lovely; happy to advise on places to visit and where to eat. We even celebrated Bastille Day with them, which was an amazing experience in nearby Bergerac.
Would highly recommend to all and would love to revisit.

Michael and Caroline prepared the property beautifully and were wonderful hosts. They went out of their way to make us feel welcome. The combination of the hospitality and a comfortable house set in a lovely landscape was perfect for us. For us the three dogs and the cat were an added bonus. We will definitely go back.

Liked best: The warmth and genuine hospitality of our hosts.

Liked least: Not being able to book for July 2017 - It is already booked

We stayed at Pauté for a week... After a long drive, we entered the tree-lined road leading to the cottage and were met by Caroline and the 3 dogs Shiraz, Coco and Bonnie. The cottage is warm, cosy, very clean and had everything we needed for our stay... and the welcome basket (especially the bottle of red) were very much appreciated!! The house is just idyllic, perfectly situated for exploring the Dordogne and the views are just beautiful. Bordeaux and Bergerac are worth visiting as are Eymet and the various day and night markets. The kids absolutely loved the pool... And we made the most of the bikes, cycling into Eymet for our daily morning coffee and croissant. We only wish we had booked two weeks as there is so much to see and do in the area.

Would I recommend this vacation rental to my best friend?   Yes.

“The Perfect French Retreat”

Reviewed August 2, 2016 for a stay in July 2016

Our stay at this cottage was absolutely fabulous. The drive from Bergerac airport is about 20 minutes on easy roads and the cottage is set high up in a stunning location overlooking rolling farmland and fields. The cottage is beautifully decorated and has every facility you need including a dishwasher and English TV. The pictures don't do the pool justice and the views are amazing - a glass of wine watching the sunset from under the pigeonniere is a fantastic way to end the day.
Mike and Caroline are fantastic hosts, friendly and helpful but never overbearing. However the real stars are the three dogs - Shiraz, Coco and Bonnie along with Rosso the cat. They are great company and really make the experience special.
We are already planning a return visit and would have no hesitation in recommending this holiday cottage.

“Excellent gite with fabulous pool and views”

Reviewed July 24, 2016 for a stay in July 2016

We were late booking this year so we were lucky to find this free. The cottage is all that is advertised - welcoming and well appointed with a very good welcome pack left for us, which was unexpected and appreciated. It is well equipped, comfortable, and set in lovely grounds with great views. Our two girls (aged 12 and 10) lived in the swimming pool, which is exceptional and great fun. They were particularly taken with the dogs, Shiraz, Bonnie, and Coco, who were no bother to have around. Mike and Caroline could not have been better hosts, and we were particularly grateful for the 'midnight' drinks, overlooking the pool. For those not familiar with the area, Eymet is an well equipped old town, with good dining and local shops. If you want a relaxing and well-catered holiday let in this area, then we would heartily recommend it.

“As good as promised by the reviews”

As all the reviews promised this is a wonderful place to stay. Because of aircraft problems we got there very late in the evening but the gite was warm and welcoming with a very good welcome pack left for us, much appreciated. It is very well equipped, in lovely grounds and the view especially from the swimming pool is inspiring. And as for the dogs, Shiraz, Bonnie, and Coco, and the cat, Rosso, they are a joy and always up for company. Eymet is a good village with an excellent butcher's shop so we made a lot of use of the gas barbeque. The owners are as helpful as promised whilst giving one privacy so all round for a relaxing and well catered holiday in this area you need look no further.

“Wonderful stay. Peaceful and relaxing”

Reviewed January 2, 2016 for a stay in December 2015

We arrived in time for the New Year celebrations at the end of 2015. The cottage was immaculately clean with a variety of fresh foods to be getting on with while we went shopping in Eymet for more supplies.
Our hosts 'Mike and Caroline' were charming and helpful.
I expected the cottage to be cold, but I was pleasantly surprised that it was warm and comfortable with all the facilities that I have at home. WiFi, a good phone signal, Sky, DVD player, washing machine, dishwasher and a very spacious lounge, also large bedrooms.
The scenery is outstanding, right in the middle of several vineyards, a very good variety of local wine is available.
You also have exclusive use of the pool should you need to have the pool.
This is an ideal location for people that want to just relax and "do your own thing".
The big question, would I return again?
Hell yes, in a heartbeat.
Do yourself a favor and book this place before it gets full.

Fantastic. Lovely. Brilliant. House spot on. Views great, especially from the pool as you swim towards the valley. Nice to stay somewhere where you could actually swim.  “Lovely peaceful location with fabulous cottage and stunning pool”

Reviewed August 17, 2015 for a stay in August 2015

The cottage is spacious and beautifully furnished and decorated - it definitely rates as the nicest holiday rental we have experienced. 3 large bedrooms with comfortable beds and lovely crisp bed linen - we especially liked the embroided linen sheets that replaced the duvets on very hot nights. The kitchen was extremely well equipped providing everything we needed, including a lovely welcome pack.
The infinity pool is fabulous affording gret views and the opportunity to get some proper swimming done as well as relaxing in and around it. The grounds of the property are huge and make a great place for a peaceful stroll, usually accompanied by at least one of the resident dogs. While we stayed we saw deer, red squirrels (there was one outside our bedroom window every morning feasting on walnuts), bats and even a badger.
Owners Mike & Caro are on-hand to provide advice on things to do, restaurant recommendations, etc or just a neighbourly chat. All their advice was spot on - they have taken the time to learn what there is to do in the area so can advise on how best to use your vacation time (if you can prise yourself away from the poolside). Their pets (3 dogs and 1 enormous, friendly cat) are also available to provide company should you wish for it but were never bothersome - they will indulge in a conversation with you if you initiate it.
It is only a short drive into Eymet which has numerous restaurants, bars and shops. We started each day by purchasing croissants at a local bakery and taking them to "Kismet" to enjoy them with a coffee while watching the world go by.

“This was probably the most relaxing holiday we have ever had!”

Reviewed July 17, 2015 for a stay in July 2015

From landing at Bergerac to collecting luggage and hire car (Buggs Car Hire) we were at the villa within an hour!

As we drove up the long driveway we were met by 3 very excited dogs who soon became an essential addition to our holiday, and whom we almost took home with us.

Caro and Mike met us outside and showed us around the villa which is stunning, its the nicest holiday rental we have ever done and we all felt it was more like a home than a holiday villa.

We were a tiny bit concerned with having the owners next door, but this was quickly displaced when we realised how friendly they are.

The villa itself is beautifully furnished and has everything you might need, from Sky TV and a dishwasher to pool towels. The lounge leads out to the private terrace and garden area where we ate nearly all our meals, and I was instantly sold on the very fancy gas BBQ and side hob. We didn’t even turn the stove on and cooked everything outside.

There was a lovely welcome pack and bottle of local wine which we really enjoyed, and we were really impressed with the little things such as dishwasher tablets and washing liquid which were provided which saved buying boxes of essentials for a weeks holiday.

We spent most of every day next to the pool which again had been beautifully built, with a fantastic view over the valley.

There is a really nice seating area and lots of sun loungers.

We all loved the location and villa and my girlfriends sons (16 and 20) really appreciated the table tennis, wifi and satellite tv.

We visited the local town once for dinner and lunch and a lot for bread and provisions - the supermarket is well stocked and there are a number of bread shops etc…...

We were tempted to cycle in on the bikes they provide but decided to be lazy in the end!

We will definitely be going back and the only negative part of the holiday was having to leave! It’s rare to have a holiday where we will feel it was perfect in every way.

Reviewed August 18, 2013 for a stay in August 2013

The five of us had a superb fortnight's stay at this wonderful property. We were completely wowed by the place, the pool and the welcome. I see that everyone else who has reviewed the cottage so far has given it the top rating – and so have I. If I could rate it higher than Excellent, I would. Things to note:

1: Everything is at least as good as described, and generally better.

2: Don't be put off by the shared pool and the proximity of the owners' house. We had the pool to ourselves, and Caroline (Michael was away when we were there) was not so much the owner living next door as the perfect neighbour – charming, helpful, but not intrusive. We normally don't go for properties where the owner lives next door, or for shared pools, but we were seduced by the pool photos, and we were very glad that we decided to rent for a fortnight. With owners like this it's actually better than being on your own with just the number of an agent. The dogs and cat were beautiful, friendly, amusing, and by no means a problem – more of an attraction!

3: The equipment in the house is way above average (going by our experience). Examples: good strong electric fans in each bedroom; bedside tables and lights on each side of the bed, with separate switches; tissue boxes on each side of the bed (and of the sink!); plenty of pillows; duvets and proper cotton/linen sheets; plenty of storage space for clothes and cases in the bedrooms; loads of glasses, for both white and red (Michael knows his wine); big cooking utensils (very good and large frying pan, for example); cooking knives sharper than the sharp one I brought myself; sharp steak knives (lots of them); kitchen roll, foil, clingfilm, dishwasher tablets, washing machine powder, etc; soap, handwash and shower gel; a welcome pack; fresh lavender on the hall table; loads of UK/Europe plug adaptors; the barbecue is a very good gas-fired one, very hot if required, and a cylinder was provided; very generous supply of outdoor furniture; etc, etc, etc.

4: The pool is of course phenomenal, and it is kept up immaculately. I've never swum so much on holiday. The grounds, too, are terrific, with benches under trees or beside the carp pond (you are encouraged to feed the koi). Lots of shade, places to walk in the grounds (it will take you about half an hour to walk round the boundary), butterflies everywhere, deer, buzzards, swallows skimming insects from the pool at dusk – and all very, very quiet. The views, the sunsets, the stars, even the storms are spectacular.

Thanks for a wonderful holiday!

We spent many hours during the day and evening in this area. No one wanted to come home!

The owners had made every effort to equip the cottage with everything you could need including a bunch of fresh basil, sheets as well as duvets, pool towels, and a huge welcome from both Mike and Caro.
The pool was fantastic and swimming in the evening with the underwater lights on and the bats swooping over head was a truly memorable experience for us all.
The surrounding land was an additional unexpected bonus - we watch a mother fox and her cubs playing in the valley behind the house, saw buzzards and even a hoopoe in the grounds.
If you are scared of dogs you might not like this property as the owners very friendly dogs do welcome you when ever you come back. But if like us you love animals this was a welcome bonus.

If you are looking for a place to unwind, relax and release the stressors of everyday life, well this is the place to stay! From the moment you enter the tree-lined driveway you know you are in a special place and this wonderful cottage offers it all. A lot of thought has been put in to making this cottage a welcoming space for us vacationers, no thinking required here! The cottage is spacious, bright, clean and extremely well-equipped; your every need has been considered. Outside, the private terrace to sit and have your meals, the loungers under the shady trees where you can gaze out at the rolling hills and unwind and of course, the amazing infinity pool with its never-ending views of the French country side very much add to the overall experience. The only sounds you hear are those of birds and the faint bellowing of cows from the farm down the hill – missing this place already!
A special mention to the owners of the property, Michael and Caroline – while respecting your privacy they are on-hand to assist and will offer recommendations on the local area with its many restaurants and attractions. We highly recommend this cottage and will certainly be back!
